Troika offers what many people might have felt was missing from DEGENESIS: pre-generated characters, that make starting a game a tad bit easier. While I personally never felt that this was missing from the linup, I do have to admit that hooking new players can be tricky, especially when there is this amount of reading involved. So any tool that makes that a little easier is very welcome.

Troika is a small supplement with three already playable characters created with new character sheet from artifacts. Despite the few pages, the book illustrate perfectly by these pregen sheets, the way to create a character with the new artifacts rules and can be used by gamemasters and players still unfamiliar with the universe ; even the veterans will enjoy the art and three non-player characters who can be a great hook for homemade stories.

For those struggling to create their own character, or looking for inspiration and guidance on how to do it, Troika is the perfect tool. It offers three premade characters with interesting backstories that can either be the basis for your own character, or be adopted straight into your party.

"Troika" is a short supplement connected to "Degenesis: Artifacts" and contains 3 pregen - & again beautiful painted - characters, to start playing right away. They share a (secret) background story, to be used to forge a bond in the first place or to strengthen their ties after some time together. Some new features of "Artifacts" were used to form the gang and give an example of the new rules/designs. Even if your not into pregen PCs, this is worth a look: The art is stunning and the backstory fitting grim (and an adventure sketch itself).

TROIKA is a small game supplement that brings you three different, ready-to-play characters including a full backstory to get into the game as fast as possible. While most RPGamers will want to create their own character, this supplement is extremely helpful to study how a character is built, what kind of emphasis they can have and how the new mechanics from ARTIFACTS are integrated into character building. And, finally, these three guys are perfect to integrate as NPCs in any campaign! Artwork, layout and writing style are outstanding. It is impotant to emphasize this as often as posibble, as you will get spoiled by DEGENESIS' fantastc style and maybe never look at other RPGs again. :)

Troika contains three characters which you can use as NPCs or pregenerated playable characters. They have a shared background so it's easy to bring them together for a first run into the world of Degenesis. The supplement is connected to Artifacts and displays/uses several new features which are introduced in this book, so it's helping to understand how the new mechanics can be integrated in your play.

Troika is a short character based introduction for new players. The story itself is unraveled by the characters and thier motivations. It allows players who want to get into roleplaying to be given a script and play it as best as possible. The artwork for these characters is pexcellent and filled with detail. Though it is rather short, this is an good supplement either for players or to be used as npc's for a Gamemaster.

Troika is for those wishing to jump into the world of Degenesis.

This supplement met two of my needs before starting a table.

First, it demonstrates all the richness included in character creation according to the “Artifact” model: Backgrounds bursting with play and characters filled with motivation, an exceptional model for all those who want to build a complete and interesting character.

Second, it also offers newbie DMs a trio of adventurers brimming with information about their roleplay, their stories and their relationships.

Troika its small brochure containg 3 deeply detailed playable characters for Degenesis compatible with all additions from Artifacts book. I found them particulary useful as NPCs in my games. Definatelly got my reccomendation!

Troika is a helpful DLC that shows three different characters one might use to play DEGENESIS: REBIRTH, or as inspiration for making their own characters. It includes the additional rules in Artifacts so you can see examples of how they might apply to characters.

A good book to start to play on this complexe universe. It's a good thing to look at it but I think it's more interesting to create your own characters.

Every RPG has its sample out of the box Characters ready to play. TROIKA has 3 ready to play DEGENESIS Characters. But lets compare them with other ready to play RPG Characters:

D&D 3.5: you create based on ramdom dice rolling. Attributes, Races, Classes, Skills and Feat. More for Power Gamers as it allows to max combinations. Next Level growing to an hero. The ready to play Characters just based on this concept. Background Stories are just Fluff.

GURPS: you create based on points system. it allows unlimited combination to create even Vehicles out of it. Advantages, Disadvantages, Quirks are allowing to integrate the Background . Max Flexibility is core.So the Sample Characters like just to show case that. your fantasy is the limit.

Karthasys/DEGENESIS: based on background you tell your character story and create your character step by step. It also involves the decision why the "adventures" work together storylike. Each setup adventures gives an overview how parts of the character story interacts with the adventure story. So Players feeling much more being part of the system. Not just figures, attributes. background story as key driver are shown in the ready to play characters in TROIKA.
