Ok. Justitian.

I needed three weeks just to properly go through all the material included in this colossal two headed hydra. Then I needed another week just to digest the ideas (oh dear god so many ideas).

At the end of the process I am both in awe before the sheer ambition and craftmanship of the Work and - most surprisingly- lighthearted at the prospect of GMing in the Protectorate and in Justitian. Instead of feeling overwhelmed by the possibilities and the cross-connections between places, people and events now I feel liberated, as I understand that I simply cannot convey everything and no single party (or no human lifetime) can reflect everything that is going on around.

Justitian is huge, but interestingly it gives us players and GMs plenty of access points to the world. It is, I believe, the world´s most beautiful book of excuses to inhabit people 500 hundred years from now and to deal with Life, and Death and everything in between in a very, very INJUST place where everybody has reasons to act as they do regardless.

It is a thing of beauty, yes. It is long in words and heavy in grams, yes. It is also to be devoured by anyone interested in the world of Degenesis. But it is more interestingly a successful experiment of world building and storytelling. Perhaps fueled by the growing community, Justitian is merciless but generous, imponent but accesible, inmeasurable but digestible. It is actually EASY to pick an entry point and plunge a group of players in this impossible future from the future. And it is not hard to articulate pieces of it into an ongoing campaing.

Its a beautiful, beautiful thing full of excuses. It really leaves you without excuses to run a game. Or one thousand.

It actually helped me let go of some of my anxiety about the world of Degenesis from previous installment as In Thy Blood, The Killing Game or Black Atlantic, where I felt I had to control everything. Not anymore. Control is gone now.

So, Justitian. I won´t say perfect, as I know SMV will try even harder next time, and succeed too, probably, so there is theoretically room for improvement. But it is damm good. It´s just so damm good.

DEGENESIS: Justitian is an RPG-book of gargantuan proportions. SMV delivers two (TWO!) 300-page strong books just chock full of places, characters and relationships to explore.

It is probably my favourite supplement ever, for anything to date. The sheer size and scope of this project dwarfs anything else I've laid my hands on.

I can't wait for the physical books to finally get here, and for everyone who got the limited edition, there are a multitude of other surprises in store as well. The production quality looks to be on SMV standard, which should tell you everything you need to know.

This book is just awesome. You can discover so much content, it will keep you occupied for ages.

The first book describes Justitian and the Protectorate. Particulary Justitian. the great capital of the protectorate, is described in great detail and you can find various information about the different districts, the inhabitants and their customs and all the different factions and their agendas. Justitian is such a fascinating citiy, it's really fun to delve into it's depth.

The second book is a collection of various important NPCs which populate Justitian. Every character has it's own background, motivations, agendas and so on. The level of detail in which they are presented is just gorgeous.

Last but not least: The artwork is absolutetly stunning. As in every Degenesis book the illustrations are realy magnificent and it is just fun to browse through the book.

I can only recommend this tome!

I didn't know Degenesis could get better and better but here we are. Justitian is HUGE. There is so much new information about locations, habits, people, NPCs etc etc... So much more awesome stories - it amazes me how extremely well a world can be filled with substantial and appealing content. I guess even if wouldn't be playing Degenesis on a regular and nearly unhealthy basis (kidding of course) I would just buy the books for the content. You also get some more information about the meta plot which I find really exciting. And the artworks. Holy cow. They are fantastic. You can really feel how the world works and get amazing impressions of the city and the surroundings and the people that live there. So all in all an awesome addition to the already existing books that brings the world on a whole new level!

The very last book of Degenesis, this collection comes with two books and those only speaks about one region, you got it: it's about Justitian, the huge metropolis of Degenesis. Every RPG has one, but the Degenesis' one is probably the most well-written I've seen. Those two bad boys covers for the first one: The Righteous Fist, the stories that drives the land and the city, how the metropolis is still striving, the important villages, who is taking responsibility of those and their actual situation in the setting. Also good to know that the book is taking in account what's happened in the Trilogy and thus proposes a lot of adventure hooks. The second one is Moloch and is about 300 pages of fully painted characters along with their goals, origins and stats, their connections to Cults and Districts. Moloch is an actual mine of informations in every regards.

Now when you think about 600 pages, you could think that it is a lot to read, but don't you worry those books comes with very understandable and easy to read English. (French speaker here)

"Justitian" is the latest supplement for Degenesis: Rebirth and it is definitely a masterpiece again! Again (remember the core books) we see 2 books - each ~ 300 pages this time - and it is imho the best description of a RPG-city (and its surroundings) I know so far: If the core books provide you with stories for years, these books add some decades of gaming. Nearly every third sentence is a plot hook!

"The Righteous Fist" The first book (you should def. read this one first) is in structure similar to "Primal Punk", but certainly more detailed since it's focused on a smaller area (the city of Justitian and the so called Protectorate). You find a sandbox of towns and city districts, each with a different flair and dangers. The art is great (but you know this already) and the design even reaches new heights.

"Moloch" I have never seen anything like this! There are 112 (!) fully detailed NPCs with stats, background, some additional rules and a full page character portrait. Get ist for free and see: p30: Oswald Keszler (so scary); p62: Eliza (so cool); p110: Kerber (so badass); p278: The Head Collector (so ... umh ... unexpected) ... I could go on and on ... That's madness! Chapeau Sixmorevodka!

It's really hard to not repeating yourself when you talk about Degenesis books, in a good way ; the books are always of the highest quality you could expect, both in the art and writting ; without a doubt, i can say there is now a new standard of roleplaying games in which SIXMOREVODKA is the leader. Every time a new book is released, you hope it be at least as good with the precedent, and Justitian is not an exception. This huge monument is divided in two books, The Righteous Fist and Moloch, each one with more than 300 pages of contents and breathtaking illustrations.

From the small border villages to the core of bog cities, the first part of The Righteous Fist takes us on a journey around the protectorate, the mythical region ruled by the Judge, and offers us a vision of the world in 2598, after the event of Black Atlantic. The timeline is as always really useful and provides many informations about the past, giving idea for homemades campaigns. The second part lead us directly into Justitian the manificient, quarter by quarter, The Righteous Fist is now a city guides that take us for a tour, teaching all we have to know about the streets, the inhabitants, the rumors, and even more ! Throughout the paragraph, adventures hooks will be offered to us in a subtle way, always stimulating your gamemaster instinct.

If The Righteous Fist was our Guide in the city, Moloch will be the one in the heart of their inhabitants. This book, is the biggest collection of characters I've seen so far, and with Moloch, quantity rhymes with quality. Moloch gives not only, the greatest descriptions of characters, their behaviour and motives, the whole accompagnied by the finnest design of the art, but also an interconnection of their agendas that will make them as vivid as ever. With Moloch we dive directly into the differents schemes, threat, desire, or struggle that exist beneath the surface of city, so many adventures just waiting to be played.

Finnaly, Justitian is a monument, a colossal reminder of what can be and should be the RPG today, Justitian is a masterpiece.

Justinian is most awesome lorebook ever. It is almost as huge as core Degenesis books. And it is full of everything: dozens NPC linked to the world (some of them you might know from previous from main books or The Jehammedan Will trilogy), stunning locations and tones, tones and tones of plot hooks, allowing GM to run hours and hours of games. In a matter of fact books will be easily swallowed by any Degenesis player too. They so easy to read and simply: page by page you will get excited more and more by discovering Justinian niuances and all things happening in the background. Some of the details made me speechless from kind of WOW factor.

Another WOW factor will be stunning layout and pictures - trademark of SMV. All of the Degenesis RPG books are the most beautifly pictured RPG ever! End of the story!

This Degenesis publication contains two books: The Righteous Fist and Moloch.

The Righteous Fist is deeply detailed overview of The Protectorate area in Borca, its most important cities, with special focus on the largest city in post-Eshaton Europe: Justinian. It covers pretty much everything from geoography to political alliances, from clan conflicts to tensions between certain fractions within cults. So its full of lore, you can feel the Protectorate is living world. There are so many triggers for players fro adventures and scenarios. It is brilliant!

The Moloch is massive NPC book, contains over 100 NPC from the Protectorate. Every single one of them is deeply detailed, from stunning portait to stats. But what makes the Moloch amazing is not numbers. This is interconnections between NPC, bringing even more beef every MG loves. There are so many plot hooks you can run scenario on every single on of NPC, not to mention some rumours and some details of Degenesis metaplot.

Overall, in my opinion Justinian is the best RPG lorebook ever and it was worth to wait every second for its release!

Justitian is gorgeus. The Protectorate has always been the brightest star of Degenesis. Is the land where most of the cults HQ are located, one of the only true metropolis. Each rpg player should love those kind of expansion: Night City, Los Angeles, Sigil were incredible metropolis but Justitan is the Metropolis to rule them all.

The expansion is divided in two books. The second one (I'll describe this first beacouse its the "easy" one) is Moloch. An entire book is reserved to the npc of the city and I mean 300 pages of fully colored, illustrated npcs. Moloch not only offers this but has immense ammount of new meta plot informations and ties perfectly with the narration of the first book, The Rightous Fist creating the PERFECT conclusion.

But what do I mean when I speak about narration? The Rightous Fist and Moloch are descriptive, setting books but are written in a way that notions, secrets and even patos grows as you move through the pages. You should read the book the way they are written, following the natural narration to have a better emotive grasp. The Rightous Fist is the setting book of the protectorate but has so much more inside it. It describe each possible thing you would ever desire. Each district of Justitian has its own feel, its own cool location, its own plot hooks, its own npcs and is connected to ALL THE OTHER DESTRICTS! Justitian spices up all of this delving deep in the main cults of the city: Judges, Chroniclers and Spitalians. The book works has an expection book for them but also adds huge ammount of possibilities for all the other cults.

Justitian is simply too important to be ignored. It hads so much and does this in an even better way that all the other Degenesis book have done so far. The illustrations are better than ever. The stories and the narration is better than ever.

JUSTITIAN is the latest supplement to be released for Degenesis: Rebirth and it is definitely their Magnus Opus.

With 2 books, counting about 600 pages, almost as much as the core books, this supplement stands as the best piece of worldbuilding I read so far, leaving me practically speechless while my brain is still processing what I read. While not an adventure, both books come across as a sandbox with enough material to cover decades of campaigns, in a world that doesn't feel alive, it is alive.

The Righteous Fist:

The first book is similar to Primal Punk, but with a much more direct writing, and focused on a smaller area, giving us a level of detail never seen before in an RPG, about the way of life in the protectorate, and in the city of Justitian particularly. The book covers everything from society, culture, economy, politics and conflicts that cross this region, from the Clan Wars to the internal fights between cults. Remember when I said that one could play decades of campaigns? Well, it wasn't an exaggeration, anyone who knows the Degenesis universe will be able to take advantage of it and find plot hooks on practically every page.

Moloch:

As if the first book wasn't enough, the second one focuses on the city of Justitian, mainly on its inhabitants: 112 fully detailed NPCs with statblock and particular art for each one from head to toe, totally interconnected between them and developing many essential plots hidden in the city, that will feed your campaigns forever. In addition, an introductory chapter guides us on what campaign themes we can run, a list of rumors to encourage your players and trigger any campaign. Finally, the epilogue, as usual, brings more details about the Degenesis metaplot, revealing major secrets about the most influential individuals in the setting and their plans.

PS: If I could give this supplement a 10/5 I'll do so.

JUSTITIAN is spearheading the DEGENEIS-outputs so far, delivering two massive books and an amount of content that is almost as heavy as the core books of DEGENESIS: REBIRTH itself. It indulges in the biggest city of this fresh, original, all new post-apocalytic setting and not only describes it in dazzling detail, but also delivers 125 NPCs of all 13 cults of the DEGENESIS-world to use in your campaigns. Seems fantastic already, right? Well, I'll tell you one more thing: Every one of these NPCs is equipped with so many plot hooks, that you can generate a long scenario or even a campaign by reading just ONE of them!

JUSTITIAN is definitely for the advanced DEGENESIS player, as it is set AFTER the plots of the campaign trilogy that was IN THY BLOOD, THE KILLING GAME and BLACK ATLANTIC and, despite its massive scope, does not contain a dedicated scenario to play. BUT, as an experienced DEGENESIS GM, these books offer hundreds of hours of playtime for own scenarios and campaigns, unlike any other book I have seen so far.

As always in my reviews for DEGENESIS products, I cannot stress enough how brillant the artwork, the layout, the typography and the writing style captures the grim and gritty world of DEGENESIS. Consider yourself warned – you may want to clear out your RPG shelf after being spoiled by the immersive works of art that represent DEGENESIS. Check it out, and if you like it, buy the physical copy. It is always very satisfying to have these works of art in your real hands.

I will add, that I have two points of critique: Being used to reading DEGENESIS in German, this is the first major release that is not available in german language anymore. While I absolutetly understand that from a marketing point of view, I miss the german translation. Second point: Even if the whole lot of content is divided in two books, the source book is not spoiler free. I would love to give it to my player, who is an apocalyptic battlecrow from Justitian and was waiting exitedly for the book to read, but sadly that's not possible if you have not played the trilogy of IN THY BLOOD, THE KILLING GAME and BLACK ATLANTIC beforehand. However, these points will never hold me back from giving the best rating there is. SIXMOREVODKA earned it.

One of the most Important parts of an RPG setting is a City. They are the most concentrated areas of population, which means the most concentrated area of Plot Hooks and potential Adventures. Sadly, most RPG's don't seem to understand this, or fail to incorporate this in a convincing way. Cities just feel like large bundles of Stuff, the tenements and streets just feel more like Landmarks, the common understand of a City from the understanding of a writer for an RPG is just a place where there is a large conglomeration of things.

This is not the case with Justitian.

Justitian is a living, breathing City. I feel like you could walk up to any person in this city while playing and you could start a meaningful adventure. It feels like a living breathing organism with casuality and it organically operates as a part of the setting instead of Just a landmark on a map.

I've always had some Problems with the mechanical side of Degenesis, but that's not the value in this book, I feel. I'm also not going to bring up the massive swathes of land the book covers in the ongoing metaplot of the Degenesis book. The value in this book is how it enriches the setting in a functional way, and I don't see a feasible way the book could've done that better.

Erwan won't pay me my allimony and Vince stole my last bottle of Everclear :'(

Since I have discovered the DEGENESIS IP in 2017 I have heard tale of this supplement. Seen sketches of relevant characters, Work in progress art of the locales featured and have heard many theories of what will actually be in the book. These two books are the culmination of many people across years. Hard work and dedication put to a point that outshines Primal Punk and Katharsys themselves with attention to detail and illustration.

600 pages of fully colored adventure fuel

In detail locations and characters illustrated and unillustrated

A full breakdown of the intricate systems that make Protectorate run, even toilets.

SO MANY npcs, each having a series of connections to the greater world around them.

SO MANY suggestions from stories, simple, to diabolically, to earthshattering and inhuman.

And SO MANY details that the seasoned Degenesis reader will connect dots with.

I want my players to be jurymen hanging around in the protectorate, I want to play a Protector patrolling the city, I want my players to start out as orphans in Justitian, I want my players to learn what the Chroniclers are up to, I want to defend siege, I want my players to explore the wasteland, I want my players to play the diplomat between various power and I want my players to enjoy Justitian. And they already do. I know I will be an old fart before I am able to play out every story possible within this book fully. For good or for worse this book is a lot. and it makes me want to be the best storyteller that I can.
