100 Encounters for the Jungles of the Living Land

ADD TO WISHLIST >

This supplement has 100 encounters Storm Knights could have in the jungle regions of the Living Land. Some are odd and some are dangerous. hey can be used to enliven a jungle journey, background colour or as potential adventure hooks.

This PDF supports Adobe layers and the page backgrounds and images can be disabled to make printing easier.

Here are some sample results:

  • Bits of leaf debris, small plants and pools of water sit on a soggy area of ground, concealing that the ground is actually a deep area of mud. Anyone walking on it must make a Dexterity test to jump off and avoid sinking in; getting out without a line being thrown to them or something similar will require a DN 14 Strength test.
  • Both sides of the path are edged by a mat of vines that are growing together tightly enough that passing through the mats is only possible if the vines are hacked down. Making a DN 12 find test reveals that the vines have been deliberately trained to form a dense mat of foliage and stems.
  • Buried shallowly in the ground here is a large circular stone. The stone, if it is dug up, is almost 10' in diameter and has been intricately carved. There are various rings with different carvings inside them radiating out from the inside, and there are arrows pointing at the outermost ring. A DN 12 scholar test will reveal that the stone resembles an ancient Mayan astronomical calendar.
  • Creeper covered oddly regular shapes litter the jungle floor here, patches of grey visible through the green. The shapes are massive stone blocks, part of a long-collapsed building. A DN 12 scholar test realises that they are of no known Core Earth design and may be part of a Wonder.
  • Dense clouds of small insects fill the air. The insects are not individually dangerous, but there are a lot of them, and they will attempt to feed on any living creatures with thin enough skins; humans, elves and dwarves are primarily at risk, as edeinos and other creatures with thicker skin are resistant. If the Nile Empire Sourcebook is possessed, the insects can be treated as an Insect Swarm, though as mentioned, many creatures will not be vulnerable to their attacks.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
